2/12/15

S landed a role on a telenovela! I always told him he'd be famous, but recently I've been feeling it more. I think there's a movie offer coming soon. I took him out to Cancino to celebrate. I can't wait until we have our penthouse in New York!

2/10/15

Saw Cassandra's movie yesterday. It was sad and funny and heartwarming. They depicted gringos as obnoxious brats. I wonder if that's how they view us ha! It was cool to see Sals friend in a movie. I hope he gets some rolls too. Ate flan and pan de queso before. Popcorn was too expensive so we skipped it.

1/5/15

We rented a boat to take us to a private beach. It was full of washed up white coral. We went snorkeling in the ocean below. I saw electric blue fish and a black one covered in white polka dots with a funny tail. We made sandwiches and went back after 4 hours. Then we laid in the sand and watched the sun set. We bought coconut and strawberry ice cream from a Bering vendor. Monica and I went swimming again when it was dark and then went and ate chicken tacos at the place behind our house.

12/31/14

The fireworks were exploding everywhere. It could have been a war zone from another planet.  All kinds of colors and effects with white smoke billowing below. It reflected in the ocean below and lit up the whole night. We just arrived after a long ride from DF. We went to Daniella's bungalow and had tamales, romero (which I didn't like), some meet with chili sauce and pear salad. We danced a little and drank rose wine.

1/2/15

We ate at Daniella's hotel with her family on the beach. There were tiritas, shrimp in a a tomato soup, guacamole with grapefruit and shrimp and a seafood broth. Everything was amazing. Later we went to the house of El Negro Durazo. It was overgrown with vines. It is open with columns and Greek style frescos and a pool and statues. Some are overturned. There are secret tunnels that lead to the beach. There is a cage that used to hold 4 lions.

Later that night we watched Daniella's cousins put on a talent show. One little girl danced flamenco while we ate popsicles.

12/30/15

Arrived back in DF around noon. So happy to have seen my family for the holidays. It was a short trip.

Went to see Lucha Libre. Took a van with neon lights and salsa music. So funny. Lucha Libre was surreal and hilarious. Lots of adorable little kids dressed in masks. Everyone was screaming at the fighters to defeat each other. El Porky was an obese contestant whose defenses were to stand there while other fighters fell off him on contact, or to fall backwards onto a group of fighters and crush them all.

Salvador came home smelling like booze and super bubbly. We laughed while cooking a midnight dinner and toasted his last play with more mezcal. Vacation starts tomorrow and we are headed to the beach.

12/23/14

Salvador left for Monterrey with the Brazilians. I have the house to myself with Lina. Talked to her about her family and Christmas plans. Went and enjoyed costras by myself at El Faraón, along with nopales and orchata and a flan. Did a few errands  all in Spanish. I was proud. Going home to spend Christmas with my family for once.
